FAQs

ATTN: February 2025- It is legal to plan to have a baby in the United States. The current presidential administration has not changed any laws.  Any baby born in the Unites States is an American by birthright. This will not change.

For our patients who live outside the United States, we have a lot of processes in place to make the transition smooth.

You can come to Sabella Women's Health for gynecologic care, surgery, hormone replacement, and to have your baby!

All of our staff members speak Spanish, and we welcome families who want to have their babies in San Antonio.

Where is your office?

We are located in the medical center of San Antonio, next to Methodist Hospital.
4458 Medical Drive
Suite 470 (4th floor!)
San Antonio, TX 78229

**Use Parking Garage 1, walk over the sky bridge on the 3rd floor, then go up to the 4th floor.

**Our office is small, so we request that patients bring only ONE guest with them to
appointments. Also, we only allow children under the age of 1 year.

What patients do you see?

We see patients of all ages! We do prenatal care and delivery, gynecology, contraception, problem visits, annual exams, hormone replacement therapy, and ultrasounds. Dr. Sabella is a specialist in robotic surgery, including bladder lifts, hysterectomy, tubal ligation (and reversals!) vaginal rejuvenation, and abdominal cerclage. What is the practice model?

We are a Physician (Dr. Vincenzo Sabella) and a Nurse-Midwife (Lauren Guehl), working together in private practice, supported by an amazing staff. Depending on your needs, you will likely be seen by both Dr. Sabella and Lauren during your pregnancy and for your gynecology visits. For our OB patients, we try very hard to make sure that all patients are delivered by either Lauren or Dr. Sabella, and in c-sections we are both usually there! Occasionally we may ask the Methodist Physicians or Nurse Midwives to help if we are not immediately available. The vast majority of our OB patients will deliver with either scheduled inductions or scheduled c-sections. If labor happens before a scheduled induction, we do our best to be there!

What insurances do you accept?

We currently are in-network with Blue Cross, United, Aetna, and Humana, Cigna, and TriCare. We are waiting for confirmation from Oscar and some smaller plans. At Sabella Women’s Health we do not accept Medicaid or Medicare. (If you have one of those plans, you can still use it for labs, hospital, and anesthesia, but will need to cash pay at our office). We also offer competitive self-pay prices. If you aren’t sure, please call our office and we can verify whether we are in-network with your insurance or not.
